CHAROLAIS TAKE TWO OF THE TOP SIX FBD SPONSORED G€N€ IRELAND AWARDS FOR 2012

Since the launch of the G€N€ IRELAND programme in the Spring of 2007, sixty beef bulls have been tested through the programme with the first group now fully proven for both maternal and terminal traits.  It was from this group of bulls that the 3 top maternal and 3 top terminal index bulls were selected and their breeders awarded.  Each award winner received a certificate and a cheque for €2,000.

Charolais winners were:

Michael Reilly, Coolgrange, Turlough, Castlebar for his bull “Cloverfield Excellent” (CXY) one of the top 3 Terminal index bulls.

Timothy & Doreen Corridan, Castlequarter Hse., Fedamore, Co. Limerick for “Roundhill Doc” (RHI) one of the top 3 Maternal index bulls.
