FIRST SALE OF 2015 14/02/2015
At the first Charolais Society Spring sale a bigger than usual sale entry coupled with a smaller than usual attendance resulted in a mixed trade with buyers being selective but willing to spend on selective lots.


Top price of the sale was €4,000 with four lots being sold at this price.


►First to receive €4,000 was Tommie Leonard, Castlehill, Ballina for CILIN IGGY, a nineteen months old bull by Doonally New (CF52).   Out of a home bred dam by “Nectergerc” he has the top 5 star rating in the Terminal Index and 2½ stars in the Maternal index.   He was purchased by Patrick Lawlor, Bishophill, Ballymore Eustace, Co. Kildare.


►Next at the €4,000 price tag was first prize winner LOUGHROS IVAN, bred by Harold Given, Loughros Point, Ardara, Co. Donegal.   By a Doonally New son and out of a home bred damn by Indurain he was purchased by John Daly, Ballyhaise, Co. Cavan.


►€4,000 was also received by Jim Geoghegan, Lisnagre, Streamstown, Co. Westmeath for LISNAGRE INDIANA.   By Doonally New and our of a home bred dam by Nelson he was purchased by Marie Hannon, Friarstown, Crecora, Co. Limerick.


►The final €4,000 of the sale was paid for the show champion KILVILCORRIS IDEALIST bred by Matt & P. J. Ryan, Drom, Borrisoleigh, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.   Their fifteen months old champion is by Prime Roberto and out of a home bred dam by Bova Oniraloin and he has the top 5 star rating in the Terminal Index and 4½ stars in the Maternal index. He was purchased by Patrick Leonard, Glosna, Wolfhill, Co. Laois.


►Next highest price – €3,700 was received by Christopher Marron, Corbane, Shantonagh, Castleblaney for his seventeen months old bull MEARAIN IVAN ET.   By Dromiskin Viceroy and out of Dereskit Uland (by Nevers) he was purchased by Billy Nicholson, Huddersfield, Crosshaven, Co. Cork.


►Thomas Keane, Taggart, Carraholly, Westport received €3,350 for his sixteen months old bull CUILMORE IRA.    A son of Lyonsdemesne Tzar and out of a home bred dam by Doonally New he was purchased by Pat Hoare, Brierfield, Moylough, Co. Galway.


►€3,050 was received by William Scanlon, Furmoyle, Carrowniskey, Westport for FERMOYLE IAN by Lisnagre Elite and out of a home bred dam by Pirate.   With the top 5 star rating in the Terminal Index and 4 stars in the Maternal index, he was purchased by John Staunton, Currybawn, Bellanna, Castlebar, Co. Mayo.


Three lots hit the €3,000 price tag:


●CLAREGAL IGGY bred by Jarleth Treacy, Claretuam, Tuam, Co. Galway.   He is by Balthazar and out of a home bred dam by Dovea Gin Tonic.   He was purchased by Wendy Dunne, Shanevalley, Edenderry, Co. Offaly.


●CASTLEKEVIN INCREDIBLE bred by Jarleth McHugh, Castlekevin, Annamore, Co. Wicklow.  By Nelson he is out of Grangwood Floir and was purchased by Michael McGann, Aughavinane, Bellharbour, Co. Clare.


●WINDMILL JOE bred by Michael Nerney, Chapel Street, Elphin.  A twin to a female he is by Fleetwood and out of a home bred dam by Pirate.   He was purchased by John McDermott, Castlerea, Co. Roscommon.


Price range was from €2,000 – €4,000
