GREAT CLEARANCE AT UNHALTERED SALE IN TULLAMORE 26/10/2015
Charolais females topped €3,200, at the unhaltered female sale in Tullamore on Friday evening last.   Top price in the Vern Charolais Herd dispersal sale, €3,150 was paid for a 10 year old cow VERN ALICE with her March born heifer calf by Doonally New selling for €1850.   The sale achieved a 75% clearance and an average of €2,275.


Top price of €3,200 went to Pat O’Hara, Dreenagh East, Ballyheigue, Co. Kerry for his in calf heifer DREENAGH HEATHER.  In calf to Sicilian and with 4 stars in the Replacement Index she is by Blelack Digger and out of a home bred dam by Major.   She was purchased by Sean Healion, Glasson, Athlone, Co. Westmeath.


Two lots were sold at €2,900 each


First up was LEAGAUN HELENA bred by Peter O’Toole, Leagaun, Moycullen, Co. Galway.


She is by a home bred bull Leagaun Celtic (by Enfield Plexus) and out of a Doonally New bred dam.  She was purchased by Enda Quirke, Newtown, Hill of Down, Enfield, Co. Meath.


Peter O’Toole received €2,700 for his second sale offering LEAGAUN GUADELOUPE by Nevers and out of Lyonsdemesne Shannon.  She was purchased by Lyndon McHugh, Oakhill, Killeshandra, Co. Cavan.


Next at €2,900 was CLONMAHON HETTY bred by Eddie Daly, Clonmahon, Summerhill, Co. Meath.  By Enfield Newlook and out of a home bred dam by Enfield Plexus she was purchased by Basil Kells, Bohora, Killeshandra, Co. Cavan.


The Vern Charolais Herd being dispersed due to the ill health of breeder Frank Harrington achieved a full clearance.


Top price €3,150 was paid by Andy McGovern, Sunnaghmore, Cloone, Co. Leitrim for ten year old VERN ALICE.   By Domino and out of a home bred dam by Diamant she was certified in calf to Doonally New.


Her March 2015 born heifer calf VERN LYNDA by Doonally New sold for €1,850 to Eamon Quinlivan, Liscullane, Tulla, Co. Clare.


Her March 2014 born heifer VERN JEWEL by Pirate sold for €2,100 to Denis Long, Freshford, Co. Kilkenny.


Vern Alice’s twin VERN ANGELA and her May born heifer calf VERN LOUISE by Pirate sold for €3,800 to Mary Tarpey, Carrow, Elphin.


Vern Angela’s:  six year old daughter VERN ETHNA sold for €2,700 to Gerry Lynnot, Killucan, Co. Westmeath.  Ethna is by Oldgrange Indurain


                Her four year old daughter VERN GRACE by Repair sold for €2,650 to Kieran Treanor, Tydavnet, Co. Monaghan.


                Her three year old daughter VERN HELEN by Doonally New, in calf to Inverlochy Gurkha sold for€2,650 to Andy McGovern, Sunnaghmore, Cloone, Co. Leitrim for


                             Her two year old daughter VERN IRIS also by Repair sold for €2,250 to Marie McCormack, Ballymahon, Co. Longford.


                             Her yearling heifer VERN JOAN by Loch Ness sold for €2,450 to Declan O’Connor, Larchgrove, Elphin, Co. Roscommon.


Vern Helen’s, November 2014 born heifer VERN JACINTA, by Pirate sold for €1,800 to Helen Farnan, Kildalkey, Co. Meath.


VERN LAURA, daughter of Vern Ethna, born January 2015 sold for €1,500 to Michael Grogan, Killimor, Kilrush, Co. Clare.    She is by Pirate.
