Pictured above is the best pen of Charolais X weanling bulls at the recent show & sale in Elphin Mart. On the right is exhibitor, Gerry Shannon with Judge’s Andy Mc Govern and Martin O’ Connor. Gerry’s pen of Charolais weanling’s weighed on average 421 kg and sold for an average of €1280, at 8 months old. These weanling’s are sired by a son of the outstanding, VCR.

Pictured above is the best pen of Charolais X weanling heifers at the show & sale in Elphin Mart. On the right is exhibitor, Noel Sharkey with Judge’s Andy Mc Govern and Martin O’ Connor. Noel’s pen of weanling’s weighed on average 298 kg an sold for an average of €951, at just 7 months old. They are sired by a son of Meillard Rj.

Gerry Connellan being awarded second prize for the best pen of Charolais X bulls and heifers

Gerry Connellan from County Kildare was awarded second prize for the best pen of Charolais bulls and heifers. Gerry is a regular seller at Elphin Mart and is renowned for producing top quality Charolais weanlings. His pen of Charolais bulls weighed on average 386 kg and sold for an average of €1179, at 7 months old. His pen of heifers weighed on average 333 kg and sold for an average of €985, again at an average age of 7 months old. All Gerry’s weanlings are sired by his VCR bred stock bull.

This pen of Charolais weanling’s weighed on average 453 kg and sold for an average of €1201 at 9 months old. They are sired by a son of Roundhill Doc.
