North Eastern Charolais Club Meeting

The North Eastern Charolais Club are holding an Information Evening on Tuesday the 3rd of December at 8 pm in the Virginia Show Centre. Guest speakers on the night include Ciaran Lenehan, Technical Specialist with Chantelle and Nevan Mc Kiernan from the Charolais Society. Everyone welcome and refreshments will be served.

Liscullane Production Sale

The Liscullane Pedigree Charolais herd is having a production Sale of 40 lots on Saturday the 30th November in Ennis Mart, Co. Clare at 12.30 pm.

The Sale will comprise of Cows with calves at foot, In calf Heifers, Maiden Heifers and young breeding bulls.

In calf heifers are in calf to high index A.I. bull’s such as Bivouac, some of which have calved down.

In calf cows are due Nov-Feb.

All breeding Bulls are Fertility tested, Genomic tested and suitable for B.D.G.P.

All Cattle A.I. bred and Pedigree Registered

Mylove

Mylove is an exciting son of Jukebox and a Pinay bred dam. In France he is breeding thick, stylish, fleshy Cattle, who are easily calved. Based on progeny seen of Mylove, he is best suited to big, powerful, long framed cows. Currently he has a five-star terminal index of €140, a five-star replacement index of €87 and a calving figure of just 3.9%. Daughters should have good maternal traits, coming from a pedigree which includes Valseur, Berry Mic and Pinay. Mylove also carries one copy of the F94L gene.

Horace JD is a son of the great French cow, Cadillac, and his father is Froufrou, who is sired by Balladin. He is being introduced as an option to breed replacement females in the pedigree herd. His daughters are big, long, feminine cows, with great pelvis size and milk. Based on progeny seen of Horace, he is best suited to smaller, fleshier cows, to put size and power in their progeny. Currently Horace has a four-star terminal index of €121, a four-star replacement index of €67 and a calving figure of 4.3%. Pictured below is progeny of Horace JD.

Himalaya

Himalaya is a total outcross for Ireland, who is a son of Espoir and Dynamite. Progeny of his include Jules, who won at Moulins in 2017 and is stock bull at Thierry Prain’s in France. He also sired the show Heifer, Laurie, who won at Marault in 2017. Reports on progeny of Himalaya in France is that they display real Charolais character, with size and power. Use Himalaya on smaller, thicker, fleshier cows, coming from easy calving bloodlines. For use on mature cows only.
