The Society has concluded the judging of this year’s ICCS Suckler Herds Competition. The quality of the herds in both categories exceeded all expectations. We had entries from all over Ireland, with the six prize winners coming from the four provinces. We would like to congratulate the winners in both categories. We would also like to thank all those who entered the competition. The one thing that was apparent in all herds was the positive impact Charolais is having. The results in the small herds category is as follows.
1st place – Tom Fitzmaurice, Derrynacong, Ballyhaunis, Co. Mayo
2nd place – Raymond Cooney, Clifferna, Stradone, Co. Cavan
3rd place – Frank and James Brennan, Cloonfad, Co. Mayo
Over the next few days we will be profiling each of these herds. We will then move on to the winners in the large herd category, which really are outstanding, so please stay tuned! Thank you once again to all those who entered. All of these herds are wonderful advocate’s of the Charolais breed. A special thanks must also go to our main sponsor Greenvale Animal Feeds.
