POSITION OF FIELD OFFICER
We are inviting applications for the role of Field Officer within our Society.
This is a full time, permanent role with an office based in Johnstown, Co. Kildare. The candidate would be required to travel throughout the country plus work in the office.
We are looking for a person that is enthusiastic, a good knowledge of breeding cattle is essential. They must have excellent communication skills and timekeeping and be prepared to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends when required.
Position:
- Promotion and marketing of the Charolais breed countrywide.
- Give breeding advice to members and potential customers.
- Engage with current and potential commercial users at Marts throughout the country to aid the development of commercial customers.
- Attend and report on the Charolais breed at marts throughout the country.
- Help identify and carry out marketing and promotion projects for the Society.
- To identify trends at industry level to ensure that breed development objectives are in line with market needs.
- Carry out inspections and weighting on behalf of the Society both on farm and at official Society ran events. Taking of DNA and Geno samples is required.
- Help set up and organise Society events.
- Represent the Society at various events throughout the country including shows & sales.
- Engage with local clubs and assist in their activities.
- Attend industry meetings.
- Support the office team as required and directed.
- Report to Society Secretary.
Candidate Profile:
- Must have a good understanding of pedigree cattle breeding and the beef industry, genetics and the ICBF Eurostar indexes.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office. (Use of in-house system will be taught)
- Must have excellent communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask and identify and prioritise work.
- Be able to work independently and as part of a small team.
- Be willing to travel and show flexibility surrounding events.
- Full Irish Driving licence.
Remuneration Package:
€40,000 – €45,000 gross salary, depending on experience.
