As President of our Society i am asking our membership to make contact with their MEP’s and ask them to do the right thing by voting against the Mercosur deal.
Irish Suckler Farmers are known to produce some of the best beef in the world under some of the strictest welfare, environmental and traceability standards.
The Mercosur deal risks flooding the EU with cheap beef produced to lower standards, directly under minding suckler farmers that are already under severe pressure. This is not a level playing field.
Irish MEP’s must stand up for suckler farmers and rural Ireland by voting against the Mercosur deal in the European Parliment. Now is not the time for MEP’s to sit on the fence, if they do anything other than voting against the deal, rural Ireland will never forgive or forget.
