TOP TRADE AT FINAL SALE OF THE SPRING IN TULLAMORE MART

Our final Spring Bull Sale of the year for the Irish Charolais Cattle Society took place on Saturday at Tullamore Mart, Overall, trade was exceptional for the top-end bulls, with 13 bulls selling for over €5,000. The average price on the day was just under €6,000.

 

Champion Kilduff All Star

Champion Bull & Top Price Kilduff All Star – €11,600
Taking both the Championship title and the top price of the sale was Kilduff All Star, bred by the Dunne family from County Cavan. This stylish bull carried one copy of both the Q204X and F94L genes. He was sired by the Dunnes’ stock bull and out of a Tombapik dam. He was purchased by a County Westmeath farm for €11,600.

Clonaderg Andreas

Reserve Champion Clonaderg Andreas – €9,200
The Reserve Champion on the day was Thomas Claffey’s eye-catching young bull, sired by Society bull Reglisse. This super young bull attracted strong interest from both pedigree and commercial breeders before selling to a County Galway suckler farmer for €9,200.

Lisnagre Adam ET

€9,000 – Lisnagre Adam ET
Next highest price went to Jim Geoghegan’s first prize-winning bull Lisnagre Adam ET. Sired by Dromiskin Viceroy and out of a Horace JD dam, (Lisnagre Show Girl), he carried one copy of the Q gene and later sold to Northern Ireland for €9,000.

Derryolam Acorn

€8,400 – Derryolam Acorn
Niall McNally from County Monaghan achieved the next highest price of the day with his first prize-winning bull Derryolam Acorn. This stylish Plexus son, out of a CF52 dam, carried one copy of the Q204X gene and later sold for €8,400 to a leading suckler herd in County Clare.

Ballym Armani

€7,800 – Ballym Armani
Louise Quinn’s first entry of the day also realised an impressive €7,800. This super-muscled bull carried two copies of the F94L gene and sold to a County Monaghan suckler farmer. He was sired by Knockmoyle10 Loki and out of a BallyM Mylove dam.

 

Other notable prices included:
• €6,600 for Oliver and Daniel Conway’s Scardaune Ace, sired by Roughan Special 2
• €6,200 for Tim Higgins’s Cattanview Valtra, sired by Fiston
• €6,000 for Basil Bothwell’s Dereskit Ambassador 1244, sired by Society bull Reglisse
