CHAROLAIS NATIONAL SHOW
The 2014 National Charolais Show lived up to its billing as the ‘Big Charolais Event of the Year’. The depth of quality and breeding throughout the classes captivated the crowd through some eight and a half hours of judging. It provided the highest level of competition with champion and prize winning animals from the summer shows around the country, going head to head for the major titles on offer. A high quality line up of almost 250 cattle from breeders representing 19 counties came before our two distinguished judges, Roy Milne from the noted Elgin Herd in Scotland on his second judging visit to Ireland and Charlie Boden from the well know Sportsman Herd in Cheshire on his first judging visit. Both judges were unanimous in their praise of the cattle presented to them at the show. Championship titles went to: Goldstar Herd owned by the Ryan Family, Cabra, Thurles. They took the Overall Senior Female Championship with their multi prize-winner heifer Goldstar Godiva. They also won the Reserve Senior Female Calf Championship with Goldstar Ibiza and the Adult Pairs Championship. Bostonia Herd owned by Brendan Feeney, Scurmore, Enniscrone, Co. Sligo.
