Top price €4,600 in the smaller female section went to the Senior Champion Goldstar Harlequin. Bred by Martin Ryan, Cabra, Thurles, Co. Tipperary she is by Goldstar Echo and out of a home bred dam by Celtic Vichy. She was purchased by Pat Clohesay, Goldengrove, Drombane, Co. Tipperary.
A bid of €4,440 secured the Reserve Junior Female Champion Rooskeynamona Iris for Alan Shields, Kilrea, Co. Derry. Bred by Gerry Mulligan, Rooskeynamona, Mohill she is just 13 months of age, by Prime Roberto and out of a home bred dam going back to Domino.
€4,300 was received by Bernadette Dunne, Martinstown, Curragh, Co. Kildare for her 12 months old heifer Crockaun Iced White. A first prize winner at the National Show and second in her class on the day to the Reserve Junior Female Champion she is by Lisnagre Elite and out of a home bred dam by Dromiskin Bestmate. She was purchased by Patrick Donegan, Enniskeane, Co. Cork.
€4,200 was paid for Clenagh Honey bred by Michael Quin, Clenagh, Newmarket-on-Fergus, Co. Clare. By Clonoulty Andraemon and out of a home red dam by Pirate she was purchased by Howard Pollock, Castlederg, Co. Tyrone.
Three lots shared the €4,100 price tag:
First to receive €4,100 was Joe Clancy, Gortreevagh, Oughterard, Co. Galway for Western Heavenly Breeze. By Pirate she is out of a home bred dam by Excellent. Second in her class to the senior champion she was purchased by Edwin Jones, Keenagh, Co. Longford.
Next €4,100 also went to Joe Clancy for Western Ivory a half-sister to the older heifer. Ivory is by Prime Roberto and out of the same dam. She was purchased by Robert Gamble, Rasharkin, Co. Antrim.
The third €4,100 went to Glenn Cooper, Cahir, Coolrain, Portlaoise for his 14 months old heifer Nore Isabelle Et. By Lisnagre Elite and out of a home bred dam by Major she was purchased by Trevor Lyster, Desert, Emyvale, Co. Monaghan.
Three lots also shared the €4,000 price tag:
Vincent Callaghan, Tullinacurra, Swinford, Co. Mayo received the first €4,000 for his second prize winner Tonroe Hippie. By Liscally Eti and out of home bred dam by Doonally New she was purchased by Gerry McGovern, Kilmore, Fivemilebourne, Co. Leitrim.
€4,000 was also received by John Kingham, Culloville, Castleblaney, Co. Monaghan for his JUnior Female Champion Culla Isabella. By his stock bull Moorefield Viper and out of a Maerdy Impeccable bred dam she was purchased by Pat Guerin, Ennis, Co. Clare.
The third €4,000 was received by Michael Kiernan, Carrigallen, Co. Leitrim for
his first prize winner Gallaway Imogen. She is by Cloverfield Excellent and out of a Bova Sylvain bred dam. Purchaser is Gerry McGovern, Kilmore, Fivemilebourne, Co. Leitrim.
The first Charolais Society Show/Sale of 2015 will be held in
Tullamore on Saturday, 14th February.
